Marmion Primary School – School Song in German

Marmion Primary School has a strong German program established since 1996. Currently there are 256 students in ten classes from Year 2 to Year 6 who have the opportunity to study German. The program is supported by administration, students, parents and their experienced and passionate teacher Frau Stacey Valli.

The school has recently translated their school song to German! This project had great merit as it helped to link the German language with a long held tradition at the school. Students from all classes really enjoyed learning their school song in German and participated with enthusiasm in the project.

Brisbane Celebrates German Week

Last year the Honorary Consul in Brisbane has introduced an exciting new initiative – Brisbane’s German Week 2016 a weeklong celebration to experience the best of Germany.

From the 1st to the 15th of October this year, Brisbane will showcase its educational, scientific, economic, political and cultural connections to Germany in cooperation with schools, universities, businesses and numerous other organisations with an affiliation to Germany. It is a great opportunity for recognizing the many contributions of Germans to Brisbane and a chance to highlight the great German programs in schools and organisations across the country.

This 2 week explores the rich and multifaceted connections between Germany and Australia, all taking place in Brisbane.

The Honorary Consul of Brisbane’s newly launched website http://www.germanweek.com.au/ features all you need to know about Brisbane’s German Week 2016 celebrations.
